Septic tanks are covered underground tanks serving to desedimentate the sewers and partly filtered water is further discharged into a surface water. The tank is devided into two or three chambers by containment booms in which the flowing sludge is collected and decomposed. In terms of the Water Act Septic, a septic tank is a water construction and therefore, in addition to the construction and approval decision, a water management permit is required, i.e. for discharging waste water into surface or underground water, issued by the Refional Environmental Authority.
